구름의 마음 돌의 얼굴

운심석면문화재단은 문화적 삶을 꿈꾸는 비영리공익법인입니다

"운심석면(雲心石面)"은 검여 유희강 선생(1911~1976)의 서예 작품에 나오는 문구로, '구름의 마음과 돌의 얼굴'을 의미합니다.

구름처럼 자유롭고 무심한 마음과, 바위처럼 굳건하고 정직한 태도를 지향하는 그의 예술 정신을 압축적으로 표현한 말입니다.

검여 선생은 서예를 단순한 기교의 차원을 넘어, 자연과 인간 존재의 깊은 본질을 담아내는 통로로 삼고자 했습니다. '운심석면'은 그러한 그의 세계관과 수련의 길을 상징하는 표상이 되었습니다. 

운심(雲心)

구름처럼 자유롭고 집착이 없는 마음

석면(石面)

돌처럼 단단하고 변함없는 태도

“Woonsim Seokmyeon (雲心石面)” is a phrase that appears in a calligraphy work by Master Geomyeo Yoo Huigang (1911~1976). It means "a heart like a cloud and a face like stone."
This expression encapsulates the spirit of his art — aspiring toward a mind as free and unattached as the clouds, and an attitude as steadfast and honest as stone.

Master Geomyeo sought to elevate calligraphy beyond mere technique, using it as a medium to convey the profound essence of nature and human existence. “Unsim Seokmyeon” became a symbol of his worldview and the path of personal cultivation he pursued.
